Your Riding Ability
At TVRC we take our riding seriously.
After every riding session you should feel good about your ability and learned to be a better horsemen. In that effort you will be assigned Badges to keep track of your progress and allow you to experience the desert without supervision and more advanced events that we offer, safely.

Note: Only horsemen with a Riders Badge can take out horses on their own. Horsemen with a Cowboys badge may invite other badge holders.
Stable Hand
Can safely be in the pen with horses. Has awareness of other horses and themselves with respect to safety. Can catch a horse without help.
Junior Wrangler
Can catch a horse independently. Has knowledge of tack. Can groom horses but needs help. Can walk horses independently.
Wrangler
Can adjust all tack and groom horses independently. Requires no supervision to saddle up safely. Can walk or trot horses independently with balance and good form.
Rider
Can ride the horse they choose. Can walk, trot, lope, independently with good form, and balance.
Cowboy
Can ride any horse confidently, safely, at any speed, in any direction.
